How to beat Lugia

Lugia appears as a Raid Boss for a limited time only!

The time limit for fighting Lugia is 300 seconds (5 minutes). You can try to lower his HP as much as possible during this time. Use revives and potions after you are defeated to quickly get back into the battle!

Being a Psychic/Flying type, Lugia is weak to 5 attack types namely: Rock, Ghost, Electric, Ice and Dark. Use Pokemon with these types of attacks to gain an advantage during battle. On the other hand, avoid using Ground, Fighting and Grass type attacks when fighting Lugia, as he is resistant to these types of attacks.

Lugia's normal and special attacks are usually Psychic type, so bringing a Pokemon that is resistant to Psychic attacks is recommended. Dark type pokemon are especially great since they are Resistant to Psychic attacks and most likely have Dark attacks which would be effective against Lugia.

Lugia is an extremely tough Raid Boss even among other legendary pokemon. His high defense stat combined with his high HP make him extremely durable, you will not be able to cut his HP down to 0 within 5 minutes alone. That is why playing with other trainers is essential in defeating Lugia. An upward of 13 trainers is recommended to safely ensure victory before Time Out.

Tyranitar

• Oustanding overall stats that rival even Legendary Pokemon.
• Stone Edge is super effective against Lugia.
• Resistant against Psychic-type attacks.
• Be careful of Hydro Pump.

Zapdos

• Electric-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.
• Outstanding attack stat.

Golem

• Rock-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.
• Be very careful of Hydro Pump, as it is double super effective against Golem.

Lapras

• Outstanding HP and High Defense.
• Ice-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.

Houndoom

• Dark-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.
• Resistant to Psychic-type attacks
• Be careful of Hydro Pump.

Jolteon

• Electric-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.
• Resistant to Flying-type attacks.

Piloswine

• Ice-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.

Scizor

• Resistant against Psychic and Dragon-type attacks.

Vaporeon

• Great HP and High defense stat.
• Hydro Pump does excellent damage even without super effective.
• Resistant against Lugia's Hydro Pump.

Dragonite

• Oustanding overall stats that rival even Legendary Pokemon.
• Resistant against Lugia's Hydro Pump.

Articuno

• High HP and oustanding Defense stats.
• Ice-type attacks are super effective against Lugia.

Blissey

• Very low attack stat, can't do enough damage before time out.
• Slow attack speed.

Snorlax

• Same as Blissey, but attack stat is much higher.

Machamp

• Fighting-type attacks are a double resistance to Lugia.
• Most of Lugia's attacks are super effective against Fighting-types.

Gengar

• Although Ghost-type attacks are super effective against Lugia, Psychic-type attacks are double super effective against Gengar.
