In Pokemon Go, you can get Pokemon by hatching an egg. There are 3 types of egg by required distance for hatching: 2km (1.25miles), 5km (3.1 miles), 10km (6.3 miles). The longer the distance is, the rarer Pokemon hatch from eggs.
You can have up to 9 eggs. If your inventory gets full, additional eggs cannot be received. To make space for new eggs, and you need to hatch eggs.
Like other items, Eggs can be found only at a PokeStop in Pokkemon Go. The level of eggs is randomly selected. Eggs are not purchasable at the in-app shop.

6 things you should know
1. Eggs cannot be discareded
Since 2km eggs hatch into low-rarity Pokemon, you may want to remove it to make space in your inventory. However, there is no option to get rid of eggs currently. Hatching eggs is the only way to make space.
2. Walked distance is not counted during the app does not run
Walked distance is counted while Pokemon Go app is operated.
3. There is speed limit
If you driving a car to earn distance, it does not work because there is speed limit. If you move faster than approximately 10km/h, Pokemon Go does not count it.
4. Eggs do not hatch just in time
Eggs sometimes do not hatch once you walked required distance. If so, wait for a few minutes, and eggs start to hatch.
5. Walked distance is rounded
Walked distance displayed is rounded. Therefore, 0.8km may be 0.79km or 0.71km.
6. XP gained by hatching eggs
Gained XP varies by required distance. 200XP for 2km eggs, 500XP for 5km eggs, and 1,000XP for 10km eggs.
